SUMMER in Montreal:
In the summer, Montreal has an outdoor activity to offer to everyone. For those who prefer rough sports, Les descentes sur le Saint-Laurent offers a chance to ride down the Lachine rapids, and Aventure Boréale proposes packages including transportation and food, for different types of sports, such as canoe, rafting and hiking. Adventurers will be interested by the Site Cavernicole de Saint-Léonard where you can have a guided visit and interpretation of the caves in the area.
At the Amphithéâtre Bell (Metro Station Bonaventure), near the Bell Centre, you can practice your ice-skating abilities all year round. The Old Port (Station Champs-de-Mars) is one of the most exciting places for outdoors activities, especially for family fun; various activities are held during the whole summer season. The Mount Royal and Lafontaine parks are very beautiful and safe places for either jogging or biking (the Lafontaine park is situated just a few blocks from us). Other popular parks, the Arboretum Morgan (Sainte-Anne de Bellevue), the Parc-Nature du Bois de l'Île-Bizard, the Angrignon park (in the West of the island), and the Bois-de-Liesse park, are ideal for family activities.
There is a very well maintained clean public beach at St.-Hélène Island at Metro Station Jean-Drapeau (about 2 subway stops away from the hotel), which was the site of Old 67 expos and the present International Formula 1 Grand Prix Racing site. It remains an ideal location for all outdoor activities, and is very popular among Montrealers.
In terms of cycling trails, the island of Montreal offers you a large variety of routes, depending on the degree of difficulty and length desired. Our personnel will be pleased to advise you more on the subject. You can roller-skate or bike to the well maintained public beaches or to many spots next to the trails along the scenic rivers for picnics or to watch firework competitions (two evenings per week from June to August)
